Literary agent Nigel Simon has just lost his best friend and the woman he loves to her high school sweetheart and to make matters worse, loses his composure in front of the bride's new sister-in-law (unknown to him). Back in New York, he learns the identity of the beautiful stranger at the wedding reception and calls her to ascertain that she won't spill his secret. Daisy has issues of her own, including reluctantly breaking a good man's heart and figuring out the rest of her life. When Daisy and Nigel strike up an unlikely friendship, he informs her of a job opening in New York and she finds herself rearranging her whole life.
