Deliverance by Teresa Purkis
Earth, 2495. Earth had settled on other planets in this and the neighbouring solar systems. Most of the planets minerals on the home planet had been depleted. A terrible catastrophe had forced the privileged administration to rule with an iron fist. Archaic rules were put in place forbidding women an education and all unseemly behaviour severely punished. All the satellite planets were under Earth control. All, that is, except one. Would planet Sythia survive?

Tony and Julie stared out at the planet that had suddenly emerged before them. He began to send the message to Earth that they had found it. Instantly there was a searing flash and all the inert energy of the planet’s atmosphere travelled along the beam.

Julie soon realised she would need help. She made her way to the exit and stepped onto the strange surface of the planet. And so began Julie’s voyage of discovery on this bizarre and complicated planet.

Julie found it difficult not to stare at her, she tried to avert her gaze but Kama held hers fixed; eyes twinkling, a slight lop-sided smile, as if she already knew the outcome of this meeting. A peculiar feeling came over Julie, one she had never felt before. Would she succumb to this strange woman’s charisma?

Would Julie fulfil her ambitions or would Tony or the enigmatic Kama scupper her aspirations?

This combined lesbian romance and science-fiction tells the story of a group of pioneers who disappear from Earth during the catastrophe and colonise the planet Sythia. They struggle to build a world safe for both women and men. To live their lives as and how they wish, away from the tyranny and brutality of Earth, and how they react when their idyll is finally disturbed.
