Deliberate Seduction
Marie Nash
Anna Winston shrugged her shoulders. “What would you like for me to say?” You go through this every time you think about that delicious Trent Denison,” she said with a sigh. “I don’t know what you’re whining about. If I had spent the night with him I would not be bemoaning the fact that it happened. It’s been a month, Serena. So you slept with him. It was just one night. I’m beginning to think that he left a lasting impression on you.”
“He impressed me alright. That man has skills. Every night when I close my eyes my I see his face. I’m trying to forget."
“What was so bad about that night?”
“Anna, I never said the night was bad. Matter of fact, it was fantastic. And that’s the problem. It was one of the best nights of my life.”
“I don’t understand. If it was so good why do you call it a mistake? Now that I think about it, you’ve been very secretive about that night. You gave me very little details.”
Serena gave her a strange look. “Because it just was, okay.” When Anna continued to stare at her, Serena sat down behind her desk to explain.
Anna crossed her legs to wait. She watched her friend gather her thoughts. Serena was a beautiful woman and she worked much too hard. She didn’t have much of a personal life. She worked late most nights and went home to an empty house. But she had a big heart and Anna loved like the sister she never had.
Serena liked Anna from the first day she hired her. Anna is her legal assistant and a darn good one. Serena is a very good attorney who always dreamed up having a private practice. Last year she made the decision to take the plunge. She was still building her client base but so far she was doing very well.
Serena cleared her throat. “I haven’t said much to you because I’m still confused at my behavior. I had a little too much to drink that night, and I fell into bed with the first available man.”
Anna rolled her eyes. “Let me stop you right there. If you’re going to tell this story at least be honest with me, and more importantly, with yourself. You did not fall into bed with a stranger. You had hot sex with a man you are very much attracted to.” Anna raised her hand when Serena started to go into her denial mode.
“Let me finish. No matter how many times you say you dislike Trent, we both know that’s not true. I think the alcohol gave you the courage to do something you’ve wanted to do for a long time. Later, you had second thoughts and now you’re calling it a mistake.”
Serena opened her mouth to reply but then she closed it. She laid her head back against the soft leather of her office chair. “Oh, Anna. What am I going to do? He keeps trying to contact me. And no matter how many times I ignore his calls it doesn’t discourage him.”
“He does seem very determined. If I had to guess, I’d say he’s not the kind to give up. Especially when faced with a challenge. That would be you, girlfriend.”
“I try to avoid him. I’ve run into him a couple of times. Every time I see him, he winks and gives me a sexy grin. It drives me crazy. I don’t know what he finds so amusing? My theory is that he’s imagining me naked.
