Leia Lincoln has worked hard to get past the horrible things that have happened in her life. Over the years, she’s learned to protect herself, not just physically, but emotionally too. Now that she’s almost 40 and surrounded by friends who have families of their own, the yearning to create a happy life for herself has started getting more intense. The biggest obstacle to that life is Leia herself since she’s made a habit of choosing the wrong men just so she won’t be sad when they inevitably go their own way, whether by their own choice or because she’s come up with a crazy story that will help get them out of her life for good.

A chance encounter puts Leia on the defensive, and now it’s up to her to find a way past that and give herself a chance to find the happiness she’s always dreamed of.

Twenty years in prison will change a man in many ways, but at his core, Waylon is still the loyal and trustworthy man he was when he went in. However, the world probably won’t see him that way, but that’s not what bothers him most. He wants more than the life he had before he went to prison. Hopefully, he’ll be able to settle down in Rojo while he looks for that chance.

Even after all these years, it’s in Waylon’s nature to help people in need. When he comes to the rescue of a stranger in the grocery store - not once but twice - it changes the course of his new life forever. Lucky for him, the object of his gallantry is a well-known and well-loved member of one of Rojo’s most prominent families. His chance encounter and willingness to help will get him into not just Leia’s good graces, but everyone else’s too.

Leia knocked him off his feet, and he hasn’t been the same since. It doesn’t take long for him to realize he never wants to be the same again.
