A Missed Engagement: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Sophia Grey, A Lady
On a dark winter night, flames light the sky. Longbourn is burning.

After an impossible tragedy, Elizabeth Bennet and her family are forced to depend upon the kindness of their neighbors. Mr. Charles Bingley, newly arrived to Hertfordshire, will not hear any word against his wish that the Bennets should stay at Netherfield Park for the approaching Christmas festivities.

Overwhelmed by Mr. Bingley’s generosity, Elizabeth’s joy in the season is only marred by the presence of a gentleman who does not seem to share his friend’s sentiments. But an unexpected proposal leaves Elizabeth questioning how much she really knows about herself, and the disagreeable gentleman who has made the request.

Will a practical marriage outweigh the possibility that she might be forced to make a decision that will take her even farther away from the very deepest love she has always hoped to discover? Or is a convenient marriage the only way to achieve that which might have otherwise eluded her? If an agreement can be struck, perhaps both parties will be satisfied with their arrangement.

A Missed Engagement is a sweet, clean Pride and Prejudice variation that is suitable for all lovers of Jane Austen’s classic love story.
