Onyx's Love

Growing up I was considered overweight, too dark, and ugly with bad skin by my peers. If it weren’t for my best friend Hayley, who was popular, I don’t know how I would have managed going to school. It’s not a good feeling to be teased and taunted by your peers constantly.
One day, a phone call changed my life forever. The most popular boy at school, and my crush, noticed me and I thought he really liked me. Boy was I wrong! I became a part of a scheme of things that spiraled out of control. My life changed drastically causing me to leave town! After eighteen years, I am back on the scene! I’m still dark, still thick, and have definitely grew out of my ugly phase. This time I’m not running!
It gets real when I move back into the same city I ran from. Secrets aren’t secrets when someone knows and plays you for a fool. Friendships change meaning when jealousy wreaks havoc. Especially when brothers are both bucking for position, and murder is the name it was given.
Can I catch a break? Or do I need to put my foot on the necks of my past, while standing ten toes down on my present, in order to have a future?
