Kind of Like You by Ashton Prater
At nine years old, Olive Reed fell in love with romance. She watched romantic comedies with her mom every Friday night and dreamed of one day finding a love like in the movies. She binged romance novels on school nights and then daydreamed of her own happily ever after in class the next day. She followed this passion into adulthood and became a romance author, where she had finally started to find her footing until…

At twenty-six, Olive Reed had her heart fully and brutally broken. As a last-ditch effort to find inspiration for the small-town romance she’s writing, she visits the township of Amber, Indiana. Upon arrival, though, she realizes that she’d greatly underestimated exactly how small a small town is and just how inaccurate a description on a home-sharing app can be.

While trying to write about an epic love, when she’s not certain she still believes in the concept, she befriends local bar owner and son of her Vrbo hosts, Laurie Anderson. As her resident bartender and expert on all things Amber, Laurie aims to help Olive finish her novel, which features a love interest that may or may not be loosely based on him. Tropes and denial follow… obviously.
