Twisted Talon by T.L. Hodel
Mirror, mirror on the wall...
Who's the fairest of them all?
Is it me, because I feel like I'm cursed. The closest thing I've had to a kiss was in my ninth grade play of Romeo and Juliette, when my father stormed on stage and punched Romeo in the face. Everything went down hill after that. Any date I had either canceled or didn't show up. I even had one leave when I ran to my room to get a sweater.

For years I watched my brother and friends have a socail life while I was stuck behind waiting for my moment to shine. And to make matters worse, the dark thoughts I'd been suppressing since childhood were getting stronger every day. My dad was crazy, my brother was the golden boy, my cousin was weird, and I was freak pretending to be perfect. Nobody really saw me.

At least that's what I thought, until I found a rose taped to my locker.

Seeing Talon the first time was more blinding than staring into the sun. It didn't matter that she was my best friend's sister, or what her father would do to me if he knew what I was thinking. She was beautiful, perfect, and mine. But I couldn't rush it. Talon was too focused on her secret admirer to accept my love.

And so was I.

I didn't spend years chasing away other men so one could slip in under the radar. Every rose had it's thorn, and as soon as I found this prick I'd show him exactly how much damage a thorn could do.

Fee fi foe fum...
I smell the blood of a dead mun.
