I feel dead. Buried under a wealth of regret disguised as rotten dirt. My ex-husband Dominic is a money hungry abuser, and it's all I can do to keep the peace between us for my twin boys' sake. But that peace comes at an incredibly exhausting price that I am starting to be unable to maintain. Something has to give soon, because I'm running out of money and energy to keep going. Life is carving my name into the grave, and pretty soon I'm afraid I'm going to tip over into it.

Not only will I pull her out of her dirt, I'll be the one to nourish her until she's ready to thrive. Lola doesn't know this yet, but her and those boys are my family, and there's nothing that anyone could do or say to change it. I may not have given her the seed for her to make those kids, but I'll be damned sure that I'm going to be the one to ensure their growth and pluck them up out of the ground when they are ready. But there's something that needs culling first.
