Elizabeth's Ilusions: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Elaine Burkett
In a world where everyone has a small magical gift, the Bennet sisters, Elizabeth and Jane, have been gifted with the ability to create illusions. Elizabeth's illusions are visual, and Jane's are auditory. Together they use their illusions to create decorations and entertainment for some of the most exclusive parties in London. While doing so, the sisters gain much attention, most of it benign, but some of it is quite disturbing. Eventually, Elizabeth and Jane withdraw from their work and find other occupations for their time.
The summer after removing themselves from the London scene, they are reintroduced to an acquaintance, Mr. Darcy, while visiting their aunt in Meryton. Mr. Darcy introduces them to his friend, Mr. Bingley, and the ensuing summer is spent in their delightful company, yet it does not end well.
When the summer ends, the sisters once again return to their home in London. Things take an additional twist when Elizabeth and Jane once again run into Mr. Darcy. Confusion, heartache, and mixed signals ensue, but as always the ending is a happy one.
