Deputy Steve Draper is the kind of man who makes me want to break all my rules. He’s a devoted father, a loyal protector, and entirely too tempting for my peace of mind. But when I see the way his daughter’s smile lights up around him, I start to wonder if there’s room in their world for someone like me.

Starting over was supposed to be about healing, especially after being betrayed and losing everything. But the way Steve makes me feel safe in this new town, where everything else still feels strange, is unexpected and intoxicating. I didn’t plan to fall this fast or this hard.

Then, just when I thought we had something real, he pulls away without a word, and it feels like losing everything all over again. But I’m not ready to give up.
