The stolen Roses by Abel Mounir
the book is centred around Jaimee Clay, a young man from a rich family in the 1800s. His family owns a large estate and many people work for them, some of whom are enslaved. With the way, Jaimee's story is set during a tense time in American history, with slavery and the Civil War looming in the background, paints a picture of what most people encounter every day in life. Jaimee doesn’t always agree with how his family sees the world, especially when it comes to treating people as equals. And also the introduction of the diamond venture in Africa gives a unique angle that sets it apart from other Civil War-era tales. The family's plan to secure their wealth through African diamonds adds another layer of interest, and I sense the book will be more captivating. I saw also there’s a mixture of adventure, historical drama, and personal growth shown in the book, especially with the uncertain fate of Jaimee's brother Michael, who is sent on a risky expedition. Overall, the book paints a clear picture of a young man caught between the comfort of his wealthy life and the tough realities faced by others. It's a good story if you like learning about history and thinking about big questions like fairness and responsibility.
