He’s been my best friend most of my life, although now, I wish he was more. Still, I’d rather have him in some capacity than tell him how I feel and lose him completely. I never expect our relationship to change but it does when I’m abducted from the fairgrounds of a rodeo I participated in with my faithful companion, Starlight, by someone I called my friend.

Despite my best efforts, I wake up in the back of my horse trailer, worried that I may never see Rafe again. So, when I realize where I’m at and the fact that I’m not too far from the ranch, once the opportunity presents itself, I flee on the back of Starlight toward home. Only, I don’t quite make it and have to hope and pray that Starlight recognizes where we’re at and can find Rafe to save me before my abductors trace my steps.

Rafe

As the president of the West Texas chapter of the Kings of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, my days and nights are busier than I ever anticipated. I can’t even go see Isla compete most of the time, unless it’s a rodeo being held at my ranch, the Triple R. To ease my conscience, I send one of our mutual friends because as a member of the Kings, we have enemies everywhere.

When Starlight shows up at the gate to the ranch without a saddle or a rider, I realize my woman’s in danger. She may not know she’s mine yet, but she will once I find her and figure out what happened to cause her horse to be overheated and exhausted. Because Issy treats both her horses like they’re her own children.

The betrayal that runs through my club brothers and I when we find out who helped facilitate Issy’s abduction is deep and we’ll pull out all the stops to ensure that she’s safe while putting plans in place to teach our enemies they don’t mess with the Kings.
