The General's Surrender by Mysty McPartland
Ordered to marry the woman who was not only rude and an annoying troublemaker, he thought it would be wise not to be at home when she arrived. He had never intended to have a wife, but now he’d been given no choice. He planned to spend as little time with her as possible because he would most likely end up strangling her. Tomorrow, she would learn exactly what changes she was going to make and obey all the rules. He wouldn’t allow any defiance or disobedience, and she would be punished if she disregarded any of the regulations. He knew though, it wouldn’t happen straight away, and it would take her a little time to realize she could no longer run wild or do whatever she wanted.

It was only weeks later that to his surprise, he’d given up the battle between them when strange things started happening to him. He was eager to see her and spend time with her. After her harrowing experience, he was afraid to let her out of his sight and once they started sharing a bed, the temptation to consummate their marriage was becoming harder to resist. She was driving him insane; she was all he could think about, all he craved but before it could happen, he wanted her to confess she had feelings for him.

At first, she was furious she was being forced to wed the dead jackal but had decided to at least try to have a pleasant relationship even if they kept their distance from each other. Yet the degrading and humiliating way he treated her when she moved in, she swiftly changed her mind. Now she was determined to regain her freedom, and the only way she could have it was to make him divorce her. Yet much to her horror, he refused and informed her that he not only owned her but she was his property. Outraged, she declared war, and she had no intention of ever surrendering. She was going to make his life a living hell. She intended to break everyone of his stupid rules and cause chaos in his mausoleum.

It wouldn’t take long before the dead twig realized he could never tame her or keep her under control. She certainly had no intention of ending up a lifeless corpse like him or being buried alive. It was imperative she leave before he discovered any of her secrets because she would truly be imprisoned and he would never let her out again. Things suddenly changed when they were forced to deal with a very unpleasant situation. Though she didn’t want to cooperate, she wasn’t given a choice. It was only then that she realized just how much things had changed between them, even when she tried to deny she was starting to like him but she would rather be tortured than admit it.
