A Bit of Pride, A Bit of Prejudice: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Lory Lilian
There are few things seventeen-year-old Lizzy Bennet enjoys more than a long walk, a good book, and a bathe in the sea. She has the pleasure of enjoying all these things when she spends the summer of 1808 in Brighton, in the company of the Gardiners and her sister Jane.

Spirited, outspoken, and obstinate, young Elizabeth has different interests from most gentlemen’s daughters, such as helping her uncle, Dr Edward Gardiner, with his patients, and swimming in the sea late at night.
Such inclinations change her life forever when she happens upon a stranger at the most unexpected time and in the most unexpected place — not just once but twice. At each such encounter, one of them saves the other’s life.

Three years later, Elizabeth reunites with the gentleman she now knows to be Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pemberley, when his friend, Mr Charles Bingley, lets Netherfield Park.
Time has turned Elizabeth from a young girl of seventeen — still a child yet — into a young woman who is equally spirited, outspoken, and obstinate, and Mr Darcy into a gentleman who is equally handsome but prouder and more arrogant than Elizabeth remembers.

While fond memories and mutual gratitude between them remain, the complexity of new and powerful feelings like love and passion, which neither knows how to handle, will cause misunderstandings, prejudice, struggles, and occasional breaches of society’s rules of decorum.

All the other characters from canon — family, friends, enemies — and a few new ones are also present in the tale, interfering with Elizabeth and Darcy’s latest quest for happiness.

The story contains some explicit romantic scenes and descriptions of sensations that are better suited for a mature audience.
