Akule was a twelve-year-old boy when the medicine man for the Southern Piegan tribe of the Blackfoot called him to his tipi and told him Napi (Creator) had chosen him to be the next medicine man. The young brave did not know what was expected of him but spent the next six years in intense training. Just after Akule turns eighteen, the old medicine man passes over, and all the responsibility for the spiritual leadership and the health care is placed on the young warrior’s shoulders. Akule is the youngest medicine man the Blackfeet has ever had. Over the next few years, he struggles with not only being the medicine man for one of the biggest villages of the Southern Piegan, but also who he is as a man. It was accepted and even honored in the Native American culture for a person to be ‘double spirited.’ However, Akule is not sure this is the red path he is to follow until he meets a Lakota healer that becomes the love of his life. Then all the puzzle pieces of his life begin to fall into place, and he feels he can finally serve Napi as he was meant to. This is an emotion fill story that shows even years ago, people struggled with who they were and how they should live their life to best serve their God. Our Native Brothers accepted people as they were and found good in the life they lived albeit a dangerous one by our standards. It is a shame more people cannot take those lessons and live a life of acceptance of the different people God has created today! less

Algoma is a love story between a girl and the warrior who finds her. She had been lost in the forest at the very young age of four months and found by a female wolf. There are many legends and stories among the Native Americans that tell how a wolf would accept a baby as its own and raise it. The book is my idea of how such a story would be told. The Mid-1700s Black Fire was on his way back from the Sun Dance ceremony. Being one of the head scouts for his Blackfoot tribe, Chief Flying Eagle told him and his counterpart, Swift Brave, to scout ahead. They had been attacked more than once by the French and the Iron Confederation. The chief did not want that to be surprised by an attack again since all his people were journeying with them. The two scouts decided to split and to ride in the tree line on each side of the trail. However, because of a freak accident, Black Fire is thrown from his horse and knocked unconscious. When he wakes, he finds himself in a cave with no idea how he got there or where he was. What follows not only shocks him but also confuses him greatly. A woman appears before him, but she cannot speak any words. She is dressed only in a loincloth and breastplate. She carries a bow and arrow in her hands and a knife strapped around her waist. This woman seems to know how to hunt, clean the meat and even cook it over an open fire, but he cannot figure out how she can do all this, but yet seems to be no more than a child in her head. The strangest thing of all to him is the fact that a female wolf is always at her side. As time goes on, he finds out he not only has to teach her to speak his words but also to understand what they mean. This leads to some happy moments that will make you laugh, but also some sad moments for them and the reader. This story is about the many trails their love must go through. It contains happy times and very sad times, but will it all work out for the two that are so much in love? Can they truly mix their two lives and stay together? These are questions that can only be answered by reading the book. I pray you enjoy it. This is a clean book that contains mild violence with HEA and No Cliffhanger. less

Then in a vision, Napi (Blackfoot Creator) shows him this beautiful woman with pale skin and hair the color of sunshine; telling him this was his future. He first thought she had to be Komorkis, the Blackfoot moon goddess. However, Napi soon tells him in a dream she is not. So, who is she? All he knows is the French has her, and they are riding toward his village. Sara was one of the very few white women to venture west into the wilderness of Canada during the late 1700s. She traveled with her husband, who was part owner in the Hudson Bay Company. A company which dealt in the fur of animals the trappers brought to them. However, Sara and her husband soon learned the treachery from these French trappers was not limited to the wild animals they encountered. Her husband paid the ultimate price of his life for trusting the French trappers. Then they planned to use Sara as a deterrent so they could invade and eliminate the Southern Piegan Blackfoot tribe. They wanted to take the tribe’s lands because it was abundant in the animals they were seeking, and the Blackfoot refused to allow them to hunt in their territory. This is a story of right and wrong, of love and hate, but mostly of trusting God to take care of everything. Learn how Sara, by overcoming all the tribulation she went through, she not only ended with a good life, she learned how truly good the Indians could be. It proved to her the white people where she came from did not understand, nor did they truly know these people. It makes you wonder just how wrong our history can be. This book is a work of fiction with a little truth in history. It has a HEA, with some non-descriptive violence, no sex scenes, and no foul language. less
