The one person to whom sensible, strong minded Camilla Rayburn had ever allowed herself to become indebted was her godfather, the Earl of Sheringham. Rough-mannered Jean Hilliard had journeyed to England merely to assess the value of Lord Sheringham's vast holdings. Putting up with the airs and pretensions of the ton was a burdensome bore -- except when it enabled him to feast his eyes upon the charms of his self-possessed but entrancing hostess, Miss Camilla Rayburn. In fact, his impatience to return to the wilderness diminished with each of her enchanting smiles, and he found himself increasingly pleased to be on the other side of the Altantic -- and beside a remarkably alluring lady....
