Darien Tiernan wants nothing more than to get the hell out of Wildwood. It’s the summer and he’s just found the nerve to come out to his best friend. Everything feels totally awkward now that his family knows. The closest Darien has come to kissing a boy is seriously hot fantasies starring his best friend’s older brother, Riley. But everyone knows Riley and Luc are written in the stars. Darien is beyond ready to catch a real, live one. His seriously strong Air Gaea powers pretty much make him feel like a total freak, and Dare can’t quite bring himself to live up to his nickname. So, when Dare’s parents announce a summer vacation in Hawaii, Dare is secretly thrilled. This is his chance to leave the Ravens Crossing behind and become someone else for a while, someone who dares to boldly face new adventures.

A Water Gaea more at home on the waves than on land, Lani has lived his whole life in Hilo. Lately, he spends most of his time surfing. It seems like the best way to keep calm and stay ahead of trouble. His growing Gaea powers have given Lani some seriously scary abilities and fear has really been messing with his head. Hard partying couldn’t numb him, nor could getting hot and heavy with the king of trouble, the richest, most wanted boy in town. Now, Lani’s decided to leave trouble behind. Since he can’t convince his friends to do the same, he’s been keeping to himself. That is, until a beautiful, pale mainlander boy appears on his beach like some kind of gift from Pele.

When Air meets Water, the currents are sure to be strong. Darien is sweet and kind and wonderfully innocent, everything Lani can never get back. Lani is confident and courageous, and incredibly strong, everything Darien wants to become. The two are drawn together like some crazy riptide. As they drift toward an adventure neither of them could have imagined, the currents inevitably carry them into serious danger. And it will take all of Darien’s newfound courage and whole lot of Lani’s hard-earned strength to face down Lani’s past.
