Somewhere under the dark skies of Central City, Lucius, a century old vampire, prowls the city in search of answers. Yet, even after warning Michael about her intentions, Lucius finds he must fight for their freedom. Not only from Serena, but from anyone who wishes to exploit their secret.

The couple finds a temporary retreat with Christopher, a vampire associate, but it is false protection. Lucius learns that his love for Michael keeps him weak, not only to the forces against them, but to Michael's unexpected changes.
