Riverboat gambler RC Bishop is disgusted when he spots a young girl in the clutches of an older man, a gambler by the name of Edmund Montrose. He offers to buy the girl a ticket home, but she refuses, telling him she has no way to pay for the ticket. While Bishop is trying to figure out a way to save Tempting Teresa from his clutches, another gambler picks a fight with Edmund, and when the man tries to shoot Teresa, Edmund jumps in front of her to protect her.

With his dying breath, Edmund begs Bishop to care for Teresa! Teresa is numb with grief, but one thing she is certain of, she wants nothing to do with RC Bishop. RC is quickly fed up by the girl’s refusal to accept his help, and puts her over his knee to gain her respect. Only, he is the one in for a surprise…
