Bride of the Demon Beast

A young woman named Jessica is driving through such a dead zone, on her way home from a weekend with her family in rural Virginia, when things begin to go wrong. A slashing, driving thunderstorm forces her car to a crawl, and as all signs of civilization start to drop away, the dreaded check engine light flicks on and her car begins breathing its last gasps.
Forced to pull off the highway, she ends up taking shelter at a decrepit gas station, where the attendant offers to find out what's wrong and maybe fix her car, and gives her an old beat up loaner to drive into town.
This sleepy little hamlet appears placid enough, but has a dark, ancient secret. To appease the bound demon that grants them their power, the cult that runs the town must ensnare a hapless traveler like Jessica, to become... the Bride of the Demon Beast.
This short story of approximately ten thousand words contains adult subject matter and language and is intended for mature audiences.
