“I know you’re not serious, just leave me be, alright?”

I just wanted to get out of there, and being a moment away from sobbing was making me desperate – I didn’t want to stick around for a conversation that would only make me feel worse.

He frowned for a moment, a line marring his brow before it smoothed and he stepped in close to me, his eyes deepening in intensity and keeping me pinned under his gaze. One hand came up to cup my chin with a gentleness at odds with his intensity.

He moved impossibly closer, sparks flickering through me at the small touch of his hand, my body wanting to melt into him, bring my hands up to touch him all over, but I held back, still confused.
