Clayton Calhoun had been a soldier his entire life, but after nearly dying in an explosion, he decided to give up his military career and return to his hometown. But being back home isn't as easy as he thought it would be, and soon he starts to miss the action that the Army Rangers provided. Clayton is faced with a big choice: Stay home and make his friends and family happy, or go overseas to do what he loves.

The formerly wild widow of a Marine and mother of a little girl was the last thing he wanted or needed, but when the threat of a custody battle threatens to take away the only person Daisy has ever really loved, Clayton steps in and pretends to be her fiancé. It was supposed to be just for the summer. It was supposed to be no strings attached, but Clayton can't get the woman off his mind or out of his heart and he wonders if a life without Daisy is a life worth having.
