The Shifter Next Door by Katrina Winter
Leslie Mortimer is the most beautiful girl in the world.

At least, in Jake’s world she is. He has lived next door to her for years and every time he sees her she has grown even more beautiful. He finds her to be the very essence of perfection. Her one flaw, if he had to find one, is that despite her constant string of boyfriends, Jake has never been one of them. Living next door, sometimes he can see into her window and he imagines that they are together. But it is always a different guy she is with and not him.

Jake always knows when Leslie has gone out for the evening because her dog curls up on her bed when she is not home. Leslie doesn’t let her pet on the bed when she is home. Jake doesn’t think she likes the dog very much. He has ever seen Leslie walk the dog or even remember seeing her let the dog outside. Come to think of it, Jake can’t recall ever seeing them in the same room together.

Some people just are not pet people…

… Or is there more to it?
