Katie and John Duncan are enjoying a quiet long week in Edinburgh, Scotland when they decide to visit Glasgow on a whim. Prior to going, their relationship seems blase. They’re almost bored with one another, and Katie is falling out of love with John.
When they get to Glasgow, they visit a medieval museum and are looking through books when they are met by a historian who is struck by their appearance. He shows them an old book that tells a love story between two ancient Picts. They were involved in fighting off the Romans and, according to the story, were key to the withdrawal of the Romans from southern Scotland.
They obtain special permission to go into the vault to read the story together, but find themselves losing grip on reality. Shortly thereafter, they find themselves back in time in the middle of a historic battle.
During this time and era, they discover their true past and begin to realize who they are and what they have become. What happens to Katie and John as they make their way through time?
