The Guardians: UnderCity by Christine James

For Kyra, being on her own is something she craves more than anything. There’s just one problem. She’s not eighteen. One week. That’s all that stands between her and freedom. A lot can happen in just one week. Another blackout has her panicking. Bits and pieces of her memory are missing. Nothing makes sense and it all seems to start after she meets . . . them

New York City just got a lot more crowded, and for Guardians Jerrick, Ericka and Ren, a lot more complicated. Tasked with protecting and watching one single human, Jerrick is enraged with his father. It’s not his job to babysit teenage girls. The minute he sees her, however, the dangerous allure around her is hard to ignore. He just can’t figure out what’s behind it. Her beauty is undeniable, but she possesses a lethal temper while challenging his nerves and testing his patience at the same time. Is she friend or is she foe? With so few answers it’s hard to tell. His father’s secrets could very well be the end of them all, including the humans.
