Eye to Eye by Jo Willow, Sharon Headley
Connor Knight is a Private Investigator, specializing in messy divorce cases. He's single, attractive, surly as all hell and has rules that he lives by. His number one rule is, he does not date divorced women. He has reasons for that rule and they've never failed him, so he sticks with what he knows.
His mother, Phyllis Knight is his occasional, when-she-feels-like-coming-in receptionist. She has rules too. She gets to smoke whenever she wants, she doesn't have to learn the computer system, and she doesn't answer phones. Phyllis has one child - Connor - and one mission in life. A grand-baby. She'll do anything to get one and Connor is playing hardball.
Enter Samantha Mair. Sam was the wife of the "Cadillac King of San Jose", for ten years. She's been divorced for two, and she's looking for a job. Something fun and exciting. She goes online and finds out that she can get an Investigator's license after an online class. She completes the class, buys a gun, takes another class, and walks out with a grin on her face. Samantha Mair is officially a Private Investigator looking for work.
What happens when a divorced woman who's excited about her new profession, walks into an interview with a grouchy, over-worked P.I., that needs help and has no other applicants?
