Scorched #2 by Geneva Mann
After Julia Simone almost dies at the hands of a dangerous water dragon named Michael Crow, his younger brother, Vincent, rescues her and brings her back to his mansion to recuperate. While she’s there, both of them realize something amazing—he can heal her psychic wounds.

No shapeshifter should be able to do that for a human, or even for another shapeshifter, unless that shapeshifter was their one and only destined mate. But how can that be? Never, in the history of his family or his kind, has Vincent heard of such a pairing. Not only that, but it’s expressly illegal for a shapeshifter to mate with a human—although that law means nothing to Vincent.

The Crow family is another story, however. They’re an old and traditional clan of shifters, and many of them support the segregation, citing how they’ve been hunted for centuries by Julia’s kind. When she finds herself separated from Vincent, it looks like the price to pay for loving a shifter might be death . . . until another member of the Crow family, Aron, intervenes.

He’s sensitive. He’s compassionate. But more than anything else? He’s found that Julia can awake in him the elemental forces of his dragon nature—a feat no shapeshifter had yet been able to manage for him.
