There are a lot of books in this particular genre making it hard to pick something that stands out, but fortunately for me New Blood definitely breaks the mold. Instead of the typical predictable formula that many young adult writers have taken (particular in vampire related fiction) K. Rowley has taken a very different approach. I do not want to give details and risk spoiling the plot at all, but this storyline is very different than what has sadly become the genre norm."
"..[K. Rowley] takes the time to really develop the characters. As a reader I love it when a writer makes me care about the people I am reading about. I want to immerse myself in the read and with New Blood I was so into the book that I was able to cringe when something embarrassing happened or laugh out loud at the funny parts. Also, this book is totally appropriate for young adults. There were some suspenseful and surprising moments, but the overall tone of the book was one that I think my 16 year old nephew and the 15 year old daughter of a friend will both be able to relate to the characters/storyline. "
