Jacob Deverch is the well-respected (but perhaps under-appreciated) leader of a Lancaster Amish community, doing many things that his people would never understand in order to preserve their way of life. As he watches his sister marry her long-time love and start a family, he begins to wonder if it’s time for him to settle down and find a bride. However, not just any wife will do when only one woman has ever captured his heart.

They must go back to their roots of friendship in order to start a relationship, but his first order of business is to find out whether her father will approve of him. After all, his efforts are wasted without her Daed’s approval within the small Amish town. If he cannot win the blessing of her father, he must consider whether they should proceed with the relationship and risk cutting her off from the only family she has left in the world.
