Mary's Last Chance (Brides For The Brothers)
Rosie Attwood

Would you marry a total stranger solely on the advice of your best friend?
Mary Wakefield, forty-five and with five children, has just received devastating news—she is being forced to pay more rent or vacate her home. She cannot afford the rental increase, so she knows that she has no choice except to leave and move into one of the cardboard shanties used by the homeless. Only her unwavering faith keeps her from falling apart as she contemplates the future of her and her young children.
A letter from a close friend changes everything, because in it Mary is presented with the chance of a lifetime—to marry a total stranger and start afresh out west. This could be everything she’s ever dreamed, a new life for her and her children, just what they’ve needed since the death of her late husband. An unwelcome stranger threatens to ruin everything from the very beginning though, and she is forced to make some hard decisions.
When he thought of it now, sweat broke out under his arms. He had not told Louisa that he had once been married and had had a daughter. Sylvia had run off with a ranch hand from a neighboring ranch when their daughter Rose was just five years old. The pain of losing his wife had diminished over the years, but that of losing Rose grew worse every day.
Dear God, Alfred thought to himself, making his feet move toward Louisa. She had received a letter from Mary Wakefield.
A divorced man of forty-three, Alfred Harper considers marriage to be the last thing in his future, especially since his last marriage ended so badly. When his beloved sister-in-law broaches the idea of marriage to him, he accepts with the belief that he’s accepting on the behalf of his other brothers. Soon his wife-to-be will come to Colorado, and he has no idea how he will cope with the presence of a woman after five years of being alone.
For Alfred, it is love at first sight, especially when he meets the five children that he longs to treat as if they were his own. His dark past immediately comes back to haunt him though, and he must deal with the ghosts or risk losing his newfound happiness with beautiful Mary and her children. It will take every ounce of his faith in God to face the situation and find the answer to his problems.
Will Mary discover that her decision to become a mail order bride was a mistake?
How can Alfred escape from the ghosts of his last marriage?
