The Widow's Baby & the Successful But Lonesome Ranch Owner (Damaged Widows, Brides & Babies Series)
Sheila Bennton

Georgiana Davis has made the decision to take her baby son Jonathan and head to Texas, going to stay with her cousin Dorothy until she decides what to do next. She is a new widow, having lost her loving husband during the war, and she believes that her only option is to become a mail order bride. Feeling as if she’s betraying her late husband by thinking about remarriage, she is unsure of whether to proceed with her plan to become a mail order bride or perhaps stay single and try to find a job.
When she arrives in Texas, much more than her loving cousin is waiting for her at the beautiful ranch owned by the Tucker family. Herself a mail order bride, Dorothy introduces them to their neighbor, a handsome ex-soldier turned cattleman who has begun thinking about sending for a bride. When he is immediately befriended by baby Jonathan, Georgiana begins to wonder if there might be a future for her in Texas, after all.
“You think that I don’t want the same for us?” Liza asked a bit bitterly. “There is nothing in the world I want more than to see you happy, Georgiana, but the world is harsh to widows with babies in their arms. You know that I am a practical person, sister. And after we came so far away from home, I am ready to accept the proposal of the first man I believe to be a good father to my daughter.”
Georgiana felt compelled to nod once again and look down at her own son, silently agreeing that she too was ready to do anything for the happiness of her son. There wasn’t much in this world a mother would not do for her child and Georgiana wasn’t an exception.
William Rogers seems to have everything he needs in life—a successful ranch, nice home, loving brother, and strong faith in God. However, he desperately wants a wife and children, a hope that both brothers will be fulfilled when they place mail order bride ads in town. Before he can make that step, he meets a beautiful widow and her baby, and immediately begins to envision making a life with them both.
Soon William discovers Georgiana’s plan to become a mail order bride, and when she receives an offer to correspond with a man from New Mexico, he realizes that he must act fast if he’s to become a part of her life permanently. If he doesn’t do the right thing, he’ll never see her again, and he’ll lose the little boy who already feels like his own. However, he can only hope that she feels the same toward him, as he’s not found the courage to discuss the future with her yet…
Will Georgiana find love again after her mourning?
Can William find the courage to propose marriage to the woman he loves?
