TEST OF FAITH by E.J. HENDRIX
Providence has finally touched Barbara “Bobbie” Schuutz, placing a lifelong dream within her reach. The chance meeting with Amanda Barlweather, wife of a world famous televangelist, has manifest into an opportunity to work for the ministry, and Bobbie has not wasted any time looking back. Successful beyond her wildest dreams, she is not prepared, however, to deal with the two new powerful and charismatic men who are thrust into her new life. John McConnell, a bright and dashing Manhattan attorney, and Albert Barlweather, Amanda’s handsome and talented son who is taking over the ministry, begin to compete for her attention. Spending so much time away, with all of the stresses of her new life, begins to take its toll.
Katherine “Kat” Davis has taken over for Bobbie as the financial manager for their family business, and she and her sons have even moved into the new sprawling log home Don has built just for Bobbie. Bobbie now has the freedom to chase her dream, but Don’s demons begin to come full circle as he must depend on Kat for so many of the things his wife had always done. Kat has blossomed into her own running the household and the business, and has done her level best to hold the entire family together. She has reminded both Don and Bobbie of the love they shared, but what neither of them knows is that she is constantly tested to hide her long and unrequited love for Don. Is she actually helping to hold the business together to allow Bobbie to chase her dream? Or is there another, deeper secret desire she is working towards?
Feeling unnerved and restless, Don resorts to old habits of working too much and being gone most of the time. Taking on the role of husband and father for another family, at this juncture of his life, is not at all what he has in mind, leaving him to doubt the motives of both Kat and Bobbie. When Bobbie whispers another man’s name in her sleep on one of her rare nights at home, he finally begins to understand his year-long plan to win her love again was probably doomed to failure from the very beginning. On one of his extended stays away from home, in a brief and unusual moment of relaxation in a small coastal resort town, he meets and befriends a woman unlike any he has ever known before. Agnys Diedock is a famous children’s writer, some years older than him, but there is quickly a spark of possibly more than friendship between them.
Are they all prepared for the Tests of their Faith?
