This third book features Jack, who has become quite wealthy and now owns his own law firm specializing in real estate deals. On a business trip he finds himself in Amish Country - specifically the same town in which Tess and Susan live. His client wants to build a resort and condominium in the community which would mean tearing down a farm. The farm belongs to a young widow named Mary who is trying desperately to keep her fathers legacy alive and raise her four children.

Jack comes to visit Mary several times wanting to convince her to sell her property but every time he visits, an unexpected circumstance arises while there and he's unable to broach the subject. Jack becomes quite intrigued by this Amish woman and begins to form a friendship with her. He soon develops feelings toward her and he no longer has the heart to convince her to sell her property. However, with Tess in agreement, he decides he must be truthful regarding the intentions of his original visits.

This does not go well at all and soon Jack decides to leave and head back home. After arriving back home he receives a letter from Tess with some startling news...
