As director of International Boutique Hotel Group, my job is to acquire holdings to build my real estate empire. I've identifed my latest target: the Ocean Surf Motel in Byron Bay, Australia, which I want to knock down and rebuild as a luxury condominium. The owners won't sell, but that doesn't deter me—I jump on a plane to Australia a few weeks before Christmas. I've just broken up with the woman I was planning to marry, and I figure that some time in the hot sun is just what I need. I've always wanted to learn to surf and time at the beach will harden and tan my body. It'll be an added bonus if I can close the motel deal I couldn't close from London.
