Hope this letter finds you well. Fuck, what has it been? Nine years? Ten? I guess it would be about nine since that’s how old our daughter is. She found me, Liv. She wants to meet us—both of us. It's been ten years since I left. Turned my back on my home, my family, and him. I wasn't strong enough to salvage what was left after we gave her up. I couldn't bear to see the look of disappointment and blame in his eyes.
I should've fought harder for her; for us. Now, all the feelings I spent ten years burying are beginning to resurface from one letter; one single piece of paper. I'm not sure I have it in me to face my past but I know I can't turn my back on her again; not when I gave up so easily the first time.
