Letitia Coney desperately needs a new beginning. Having been rejected by her beau when her father’s fortune collapses, all she wants is to escape. Letitia secures the position and becomes very fond of her young student, Lydia. Lydia divulges some dark secrets of the Earl, and Letitia finds herself intrigued and then enthralled with the man. But the Earl is cold and distant, wanting nothing to do with either her or his niece.
As Letitia continues her duties, the Earl begins to thaw. Letitia throws caution to the wind and presents a daring idea to the Earl. He is livid and initially spurns her. When a disastrous accident occurs and Lydia’s life hangs in the balance, things shift. But Letitia fears she has already ruined her chances to be with the man she now dearly loves.
