My Heart Won't Let Me Leave by Victoria D. Johnson, Brittani Williams
Jaelynn Stevenson and Amari Black met when they were just teenagers. Jaelynn was the most popular girl at Dunbar Middle School. She excelled in every subject and was active in cheerleading and the debate team. She was loved by everyone. Amari Black was the new kid at school. He transferred in from a school in Raleigh, North Carolina, when his father was killed in a robbery gone wrong. His mother decided they needed a fresh start so she packed him and his twin sister Arianna up and moved them to Baltimore.

Amari was a handsome young man or at least that’s what he has always been told by the women in his family and the girls from his old school and neighborhood. He had gotten into a lot of trouble with girls where they used to live and had even had a pregnancy scare. He believed that that was the main reason his mother moved them so abruptly. Amari had promised his mother and himself that he would do better in Baltimore, but when he laid his eyes on Jaelynn, he knew that he had to have her.

Jaelynn was equally smitten when she laid eyes on Amari. They began to date almost immediately and things seemed to go great up until they entered high school. Jaelynn experiences a tragedy that changes her into a different person. Amari struggles to keep their relationship together, but he will soon find out that sometimes love is just not enough.
