The Night Parade by Chris Pérez
Hana Steele always knew she was half Japanese. Today, she has found out that she's half Japanese fox-demon (also known as a kitsune).
On the same day, her father is kidnapped, and her best friend is hurt. Two guys claiming to be members of her clan and carrying katanas save her life from monstrous yokai that want to eat her soul.
And that isn't even the half of it.
There's a dark power rising in the shadows of the Japan. Hana's mother, a mother she never knew, was responsible for his death the first time, and now the Fallen God is coming after Hana and everyone she loves. He will not stop until the whole world is plunged in nightmares with the forces of his night parade; an army of 1,001 enslaved yokai bent to his will.
In the clan, as Hana comes into her powers, she makes new friends and new enemies among the yokai she meets. There is Edo, her reluctant, exiled bodyguard with the face of a J-Pop Star and just as insufferable and his sister Minami, a tech-savvy fox-demon who handles computer codes better than any sword. Their bookish cousin Masato tags along, as well as Isao, a tengu - a raven-yokai - with the face of an angel and the black wings of a demon.
Through the streets of New York to the mountains of Japan, and straight into the depths of the Underworld, Hana will need them all if she is to finish what her mother started.
Because in the end, at the grave of a god, Hana Steele will fight to save her friends, her family, and the world.
