A gothic Romance novel based on the hideous sapient creation of a young scientist. The story is familiar to many thanks to hundreds of adaptations. The original here is a chilling read from the fecund mind of a well travelled and inquisitive writer. Written in 1818, the work was challenging to many especially as it was written by a woman. No doubt many at the time would have found this fact even more unbelievable than the monster of her creation. A wonderful read on a dark night by lamplight.
