“Okay, Dave.” Joan said. “I have to leave now.”
“Sure,” Dave said. “I’ll walk you home.”
Joan pointed to The Old House.
“I live over there,” she said.

“Yeah," she said, when they crossed the street. She pointed upward, "I live in apartment 4-A."
"No kidding," he said, opening the door and letting her go first. "I'm in 4-B."
With no elevator in the complex, the two began to climb the four flights of stairs.
"I heard someone new was moving in," she said as they set foot on the second floor landing.
"Yeah, that's me," he said. "The new neighbor."
