Lady Marianne has known Lord Castleton for some years, so when he does not recognize her, Marianne finds herself deeply hurt. They turn this way and that, struggling to find the person responsible, only for James to realize just how close he has become to Lady Marianne. Will he ever be able to speak of it to her? Or will the struggles that she faces at present keep them apart for good?
