Rosa & Jagger by Nina Dallas
Rosa was the screw up in her family. After a lifetime of misery and running from the grief of losing her mother and sister, she is fed up. Her boyfriends treat her badly, she has no job prospects, and her last sister wants nothing to do with her. When the end of the barrel is where she is now sitting, looking up is the last resort. She makes an aggressive promise to herself to turn things around. Finding a career path she can enjoy and making a good living is the first step that sends her back to school. Then she must make amends with the family she alienated, and no matter what, dating has to be off the table for a while. Remaining focused eyes forward to the future is the only way she will change the habits of the past.

Jagger is fresh from the military, starting a teaching job at the local university. When he helps one very lost student, he immediately feels an attraction that has not afflicted him in many years. It turns out she is close to a friend from high school he is reconnecting to, and they are being thrown together through a series of coincidences. Rosa is determined, feisty, and not willing to consider his offer of dating. He is a patient and persistent man, though, and no is not an answer, he is willing to take. Will these two, at such different places in life, find common ground? Can persistence win him the girl of his dreams, or will an old high school flame ruin everything before it gets started?
