I've got leering shifters pacing around me...
Eager to do their worst.
They want to feed me to a beast.
A starved, angry beast.
There's another problem, however.
The world ended a few months ago.
It's up to me to stop that ending from becoming permanent.
"But a woman? Isn't that the waste of...?"
"She's not a woman. She's meat. Get that?"
"Why not let me fight!?" I scream, trying to plea.
"Let me fight against this beast!"
"Won't it be the kind of entertainment your master wants?"
"The fight will be over in seconds," he replies in a flat voice.
A door rumbles upwards, with an intense squalling, revealing a shadowy room.
I'm unable to peer into its debts to discern what awaits me.
Dog, they said.
Perhaps a werewolf. Or something else.
Something I've never heard of before.
Something that elicits a nameless, primal fear within.
I hold my breath, though it feels like my heart's thundering louder than anything I can possibly muster...
Only a miracle could save me now.
