Mail Order Bride: Lyna's Forgiving Heart (Nurses Of The Civil War) by Faith-Ann Smith
Boston - 1867

Uncle Kit, the man who took Lyna Daughtry in decades ago when she was orphaned at a young age, is missing. Lyna has been told by a private investigator that, chances are, he lost his life, just as so many others had on the battlefield.

Faced with this harsh reality, Lyna decides she can't possibly stay in Uncle Kit’s home with him gone, nor can she afford to move out on her own. Though it feels like a terrible reason to seek a husband, would it really be much different from the marriages all around her? Before long, she is corresponding with Mr. Adam Conner, who asks for her hand. With the help of her friend and housekeeper, Celia, Lyna takes a long journey by sea to California to meet her new beau.

She arrives at the given address and hears troubling sounds coming from the stables nearby. There, she discovers Adam struggling to help a mare give birth and quickly comes to his aid. With her help, the foal is born and the two lock eyes and have an immediate chemistry.

Soon, however, Lyna learns that Adam isn't who he says he is--at all. Will she be able to forgive him, or will his reasons for keeping her in the dark ruin a beautiful future that lies ahead?
