He Killed My Husband by Paul L. Thompson
Casey and Travis Pascoe got word their friend Gilbert Kildare was shot in his livingroom by another friend, Jerry Martin. Jerry was scared and grabbed his horse and rode hard. Grace Kildare was going to tell the sheriff, ‘He killed my husband.’ She put a thousand dollar reward out on Jerry, dead or alive. Bounty hunters jumped on that. A week later, Grace met her old boyfriend in Los Lunas and they boarded a train for New Orleans. The Pascoe brothers went looking for Jerry and found him. He had seen Grace and Russ Grimes climb on that train. Sheriff Daskalas said, “Raise your right hands.” When they were sworn in as deputy sheriffs, Casey said, “I guess we’re now deputized bounty hunters.” “Casey, Travis, get to New Orleans and bring them back here alive if you can.”
