The mountain men—Adam “Grizz” James, his apprentice Brick Hammer, and their friend Jimmy White Bear—have just returned to their home deep in the Rocky Mountains after fleeing the devastating wildfire. They’re preparing for what Grizz expects to be an unusually rough winter when they get a surprise visitor: the English royal Victoria Brandyberry, last seen making her way into the wilderness as the consort of Grizz’s blood brother, the Crow Indian Chief Aiga.
Seems that Chief Aiga has had enough of the headstrong Victoria and left her in Grizz’s care, which irritates the old mountain man to no end.
But before Grizz can get too worked up about it, he is kidnapped by a crafty Blackfoot Indian warrior who spirits him away to his camp, where he means to use him as bait to lure Jimmy, the legendary Blackfoot Killer. While Grizz looks for an escape, Jimmy and Brick race to come up with a plan to rescue their friend before winter sets in and makes travel in the mountains impossible.
