City of the Dead

Bella has just learned that everything she thought she knew was a lie. She has been taken by Aknas, the God of Death himself, and thrust into the decaying underworld. Aknas has been slowly losing his sanity over the centuries and the underworld is becoming a dangerous place, even for the dead, as his mind conjures monsters that devour the souls residing there.
Aknas is convinced that as his mate, Bella is the only one who can stop the steady decay of his mind and bring him back to the just ruler that he used to be. Bella is torn between trying to get back to the Land of Gods and the chaos Aknas forced her to abandon her friends in, and helping the poor souls in the City of the Dead.
Aknas spends his time training Bella on how to be a powerful Terra Goddess and also trying to woo her into accepting him as her mate. But when Bella learns of a deception that Aknas tried to hide from her, she retaliates with her own betrayal that causes Aknas to lose himself to his darker side. Bella soon regrets her choice and the city is plunged into madness and war.
Her friends come to her aid as they face the most powerful god to have ever existed, the very first Terra God. But how can Bella defeat the evil that threatens when it comes from the very mate she has learned to love?
