Willow's Curse by Merabeth James
Her mother vanished the night Willow was born leaving her with her grandmother who taught her the healing arts her mother had practiced that earned her the label 'witch'. They were happy in their woodland cottage until her grandmother died, and she was taken by her Aunt Hortensia to haunted Woodbine Manor where she was treated as an unpaid servant. Years had passed when her aunt returned from a visit to Italy with her niece Sophia whom she planned to bring out at the upcoming social season. Willow travelled to London with them where she became ensnared in a bizarre adventure that had her furious aunt promising to "turn her out on her heels". Needing employment and a new place to live, Willow answered an advert for a housekeeper at a haunted, remote, seaside manor and found it inhabited by a mysterious man who looked like a dark, fallen angel.
