"You know the only fate I believe in?" Daphne asked as she climbed into her saddle.

Ronan had to suppress a growl as her skirt slid up over her knee. "What?"

"The one I make for myself. I believe in options. I'm not a piece of meat or a tree for some mutt to piss on, marking its territory. And didn't you just tell me that these woods are full of gorgeous wolf-men, exactly like you?"

He didn't answer. Couldn't answer.

Daphne raised her eyebrow and gave him a little half smile. "So, why should I choose you?"
